In my opinion the stop action assignments strong points are the black background and our clarity in the disaperance of the objects and people. Other than that for the most part it was unsuccesful because of the lack of group collaboration, some of the models we used and the lack of interest in some people. I feel like this project could have been so much better but i felt like i was doing alot of the work and i was one of the less experienced ones in the group. People were not adding ideas, a couple were but it was only a few. In the end i was diaapointed by the lack of many peoples group effort but i was also suprised that you can see the over all concept in the movie.
This photo is depicting the book A Room of One's Own by Virginia Woolf. The subject matter for this book includes, womens place in society. Also Woolf wants freedom for women, she itches for it. Darkness is also portrayed in the book with Woolf's theme of societal equality. What i see visually is a not happy but not sad woman who is grabbing for freedom. She is in a dark place and she is reaching with her other arm. The objects i see are her arms and her clothing. These objects are close and the work is figurative. I built shape by contrasting the black with the yellow and her skin tone. I used line to emphasize the FREE on her arm. The lines include her arm without the FREE, also her line of sight adds emphasis. The contrast in this picture is meant to keep the shadows black like the background and her face and skin tone lighter. The image is in focus and this was dane intentionally. The intention of this photo is to show the strive for freedom of this woman, her want and itch for something more. This image is dark in order to have a feel of sadness. This picture was also taken indoors. This image was meant to show frustration. I initially wanted her to be screaming in order to have this effect but my model was not comfortable. Overall i think this work was semi-successful because you do see a glimpse of frustration in her grabbing at her arm but there could have been more symbolism of that idea.
